About the Essence of Diseases – Detoxification and Spagyrics

The great medieval physician Paracelsus (1493–1541) gave us a clear presentation of the factors intoxicating the human race by listing the causes of these influences. He summarized them, true to the knowledge of that time, which was still governed by holistic thought, by quoting the terms then used as entities – essences – as follows:

Ens astrale – Influence of the Stars

Today, more than ever, we are surrounded by manifold radiation that we are unable to avoid. Of all the celestial radiations, the effects of the moon’s cycle are the best known. It might be a good idea to re-familiarize oneself with that phenomenon because this ‘study’ leads us back to the theory of signature in its broadest sense and to observing plant-harvesting times as well as the peasant lore that has been handed down through the ages.

However, it does not mean taking a step backwards: it is the knowledge of our ancestors that has been overlooked in our hectic search for progress. This knowledge has been ignored by modern science, but is gradually being put back into focus again and justifiably so  – because it supports our search for progress!

Ens naturale – Innate Dispositions (character)

This expresses the individual wholeness of an organism. These factors subsequently approach the type, or habitus expressing the constitution (nature) and the behavioral characteristics of the individual. We classify this nature in terms of leptosome (slim), athletic (with well defined muscles) and pyknic (thickset, slightly overweight). Within the scope of an initial diagnosis, these assessments provide us with a preview of the weaknesses that can be expected or already existing diseases.

Ens spirituale – Mental Attitude (psychosomatics, spiritual-mental cause of disease)

Here you can already detect the correlation with the above entities, although today we increasingly speak of psychosomatics, and about the conflict shifted to the somatic (physical) level. This is where the observation of the therapist begins, expressed by certain sentences such as: “S/he could not stomach it”, “S/he took it to heart”, “He shouldered more than was good for him”, etc. These are observations that clearly indicate the patient’s weak points to the therapist during a doctor-patient consultation.

In his book Macrobiotics or the Art to Prolong Human Life, Christoph Wilhelm exposed the following attitudes as life-shortening moods and passions: bad mood, extensive garrulousness, boredom, extensive busyness, idleness and fear of death!

Here, in addition to a medicinal influence on the patient, we recognize the urgent need of ethics as a life philosophy for the one group and religion for the other; and we can account their absence as psychosomatic causes of falling ill.

Ens veneni – Toxications (highly toxic substances from the environment
and inner world / metabolism)

An accurate look at our lives takes us back to the toxic conditions created by a misbalanced metabolism, due to either external or internal causes. We only have to think about the negative treatment of soil and animals, modes of fertilization, pesticides, animal feed, heavy metals, allergens, etc., to arrive at only a minor part of the toxication risks, apart from those that are mentally triggered. But we can’t simply overlook drugs and their residuals –  mutant pathogens, electric smog, etc. – that burden metabolism, either.

Ens Dei – Divine Destination (fate, karma)

Every person who has already lived through a larger part of their life has been taught by certain more or less experienced obstacles or support, that our life is accompanied by some ‘divine guidance and protection’. This circumstance is often dressed up in the sentence, “We are social karmic beings" – where the potentially beneficial or burdening social aspect also appears.

It is amazing with which precision Paracelsus recognized and described these basic principles of human existence where, in the context relevant to us, the focus is on the basic toxications that we have to deal with therapeutically.

Consequently, detoxification is not a reaction to a certain toxin, a toxic pollutant that leads to functional disorders or even impaired health, but a conglomeration of possible influences required to counteract the toxicity experienced.

A major factor is toxication triggered by allergenic or damaging bacterial influences. These are already strongly present during childhood, although nature strives to actively protect by developing active immunity to fight these environmental toxins.

Dr. Reckeweg provided a wonderful scheme for the recognition of the different  levels of pathogenesis between health and infirmity. He spoke of the so-called ‘biological cut’ as a barrier between the humoral phases of disease, which is still located in the bodily humors or fluids and which can still be treated, and of the cellular or nested phases, and further to new formations (CA).

He initially spoke about the diseases in the humoral phase = the fluid phase as diseases of disposition. They are followed by the so-called biological cut, to the effect of ‘here we draw the line’, finally concluding with the cellular phase, whereby it is the latter that is of interest in connection with our subject.

He starts with the term impregnation. It is the abovementioned onset of chronicity that follows recurring and not fully healed states of illness within the body cells.

This is followed by the development of the degeneration phase, meaning that the cells ‘forget’ their original assignment and keep changing until the neoplasm phase = new formation phase, the proliferation of cells, also known as CA, has developed, subsequently surrendering the harmony that exists in the healthy state of an otherwise well-organized living system.

We first have to make the effort to rebuild our knowledge of life; gain insight and understanding in order to become capable of making assessments as individuals. There are, of course, undisputable findings that serve as a starting point for all opinions.

Allow us to make a brief, but necessary statement on life in general. For a long time the dogma of the human machine model was taken for granted. In the meantime, it has been revised by physicists and can be presented as follows: “Life is a property of each organism, whether highly developed or the lowest form. Nevertheless, it does not exist in inorganic natural objects, however complicated their structure may be.”

Today we accept the phrase that originates from Chinese medicine: “That which lives must be in continuous internal motion in order to always remain the same being in a changing environment.” We can also visualize the following words of wisdom, which provide an excellent description of the function of all living beings:

An organism is not a machine,
since it grows.
An organism is an open
energy system.
An organism has an organic
relationship with its environment.
An organism targets
rhythmic-dynamic processes.
An organism is capable of
self-regulation.

Based on these brief, but quite comprehensive views on life and their resulting burdens, we need to return to the therapeutic possibilities to fend off the manifold pathogenic stimuli.

You have certainly noticed that the toxication that triggers diseases is always due to metabolically or mentally generated autotoxins as well as environmental toxins; yet non-physiological substances can also be a trigger.

Now when we search for remedies to differentially heal all these conditions, we find homeopathy and spagyrics. These two processing methods within the same therapy approach enable the stimulation and support of self-regulating forces - which have to safeguard and maintain life during every second of our existence, in order to dissuade or even disperse the abovementioned blockades in our bodily functions.

Spagyrics – the name is derived from the Greek words spao = separate and ageiro = unite – signifying that the precious has to be separated from the impure to transfer the healing powers into a pure state. Originally, Paracelsus separated it from alchemy; today it is officially understood as a homeopathic processing method done with herbal material and a component of the official German Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia. Alchemy is understood as a method to convert matter = transmutations; mainly the transformation from low-quality metals to those of higher quality. These processes, for instance of transforming lead into gold, had, in the philosophical sense, the underlying intention of developing one’s own self to embody the virtues of gold. But the living organism is an alchemist, too – capable of transforming exogenous substances in the form of nutrition, into endogenous substances.

Spagyrics is a regulative therapy which, in addition to the specific efficacious powers of the ingredients, also includes the basic vital energy in its early fermentation phase, spiritus vitae, , and is therefore capable of influencing the cell’s abilities to become excited and balanced in a subtle and non-burdening manner.

Spagyrics is a healing method which incorporates minerals to combine homeopathy and biochemistry, thereby increasing the regulating vital energy.
